Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of a former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has been released from prison in the United Kingdom.
It was learnt that Mrs. Ekweremadu is currently in Abuja. She arrived in the Nigerian capital on Tuesday.
Family sources confirmed her release, adding that the news had resulted in jubilation at her family house in Enugu State.
Beatrice had been sentenced to four years and six months conniving with her husband, then a 60-year-old Deputy Senate President in Nigeria, over allegations of organ trafficking.
The Ekweremadus, alongside a middleman, wanted a new kidney for their 25-year-old daughter Sonia.
Ike Ekweremadu is still serving his nearly 10-year jail term.
