The Nigerian government has replaced the Acting Accountant General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Anamekwe.
He was replaced with Mr. Sylva Okolieaboh, a director at the Treasury Single Account (TSA) department.
It is not clear why he was replaced, but Mr Anamekwe was quoted recently as lamenting over the poor state of the country’s finances. He had said the federal government was borrowing to augment its revenue to pay salaries.
The government appointed him as Acting Accountant-General in May, following the suspension of the former Accountant-General, Ahmed Idris, who was involved in allegations of money laundering to the tune of N80billion.
