Justice Olukayode Ariwoola was on Monday sworn in as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari.

 

The swearing-in, which took place at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja, followed the resignation late Sunday of the former CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad.

 

Ariwoola became the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court after Tanko’s resignation.

 

He becomes the third CJN to be appointed by President Buhari since he assumed office in 2015.

 

He was born on August 22, 1958, and hails from Iseyin, Oyo State. He was formerly a Justice of the Court of Appeal until he was made a Justice of the Supreme Court bench in 2011.
