As Huhuonline.com previously reported, former deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has been charged with plotting to harvest the organs of a child in the United Kingdom.
Ike Ekweremadu, 60, was charged alongside his wife , Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, with conspiracy to arrange and/or facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation.
The husband and wife were remanded in custody and appeared at Uxbridge magistrates court in west London later on Thursday, were bail was denied.
Huhuonline.com investigation revealed that the child whose name is Ukpo Nwamini David age 15, has been taken into care.
Simply put, Organ harvesting involves removing parts of the body, often for commercial gain and against the will of the victim.
Huhuonline.com gathered that investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May, by a physician, who after several lab work discovered that the donor was a minor and could not have consented to the procedure.
However, a source close to the Ekweremadu`s affirm that the former deputy Senate President and his wife were not involved in any plot to harvest the organ of the minor. The aver that his daugther, Sonia Ekweremadu, had end stage renal disease and needed a transplant, and the Ukpo David whom they claim is 21 yrs old willingly agreed to donate his kidney,but upon arrival in London he was not a match.
The donor wanted to remain in the UK,thus he went to the authorities to report that he was trafficked to the London for possible organ harvest.
Excepts of a medical visa application to the British High Commission, titled Re- medical visa application for Ukpo Nwamini David ,authored by Senator Ike Ekweremadu and dated December 28th 2021, read thus,
“I am writing to in support of the visa application made by Mr.Ukpo Nwamini David who is currently having medical investigation for a kidney donation to Ms Sonia Ekweremadu.”
“David and Sonia will be at the Royal Free Hospital London, and I will be providing the the neccessary funding. I have enclosed a statement of my bank account.
