The family of Nelson Achukwu, a former lawmaker in Anambra State who was beheaded by gunmen, has hurriedly buried his decomposing body.
He was abducted the second time on June 9 from his house in the Mkpor community but before he could be rescued the gunmen beheaded the physically challenged man.
Achukwu had been previously abducted by gunmen who accused him of releasing information to security agencies in the state. He was said to have been released after his family had paid a N15 million ransom.
Achukwu hailed from Nnewi South Local Government Area of the State, and at some point represented Nnewi South 2 Constituency in the State House of Assembly.
Achukwu’s beheading comes about a month after a serving member of the State House of Assembly, Dr Okechukwu Okoye, was beheaded by gunmen who abducted him. He represented Aguata 2 Constituency, where the Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, hails from.
