A Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa on Friday declared that former President Goodluck Jonathan is eligible and qualified to contest the 2023 presidential election.
Justice Isa Dashen, the presiding judge, ruled that Jonathan’s right to contest for the office of president again cannot be stopped by any retroactive law.
There have been calls for the former president to join the contest for Nigeria’s number one seat in the elections scheduled for next year.
While Jonathan ruled Nigeria on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, he is being wooed by the ruling All Progressives Congress.
