All Progressives Congress National Leader and a presidential contender, Bola Tinubu, has taken a swipe at those insinuating that he lacks the health status for someone aspiring to the position of Nigeria’s presidency.
According to him such persons are ignorant of the basic facts with regards to the responsibilities of a president.
“They don’t have my brain but they abuse me every day, ‘E no well, leg dey pain am, e go Mecca go do Tawafi.’ None of them has a medical certificate but I have.
“They have empty brains and have nothing to say rather than insult me but I leave them to their blindness and ignorance,” Tinubu said.
He made the comments on Friday in Minna,Niger State, as he wooed APC delegates ahead of the party primaries.
Tinubu has come under severe criticism since he declared interest in the 2023 presidential election, as some several people claim he is not healthy enough to take on the enormous responsibility of Nigeria’s presidency.
But the two-term former governor of Lagos State countered such arguments, stressing that stated that qualifying to be President of Nigeria doesn’t require strength but intelligence and smartness to overcome the numerous problems bedeviling the country.
“To be the president of Nigeria is not to climb mountain, it is not to go for wrestling or to carry concrete cement but to use God-given brain to provide security, provide quality education for our children and look at the economy and transform it around for a better Nigeria.
“We must give our children sound education and not allow them to roam the streets and become nuisance, we must revive our drowning economy and we must be ready to travel on our roads freely at any time of the day and this is why I am coming out, to be president of our country,” he remarked..
“We are not looking for WWE wrestling fighter; we are looking for a thinker to provide security for us; we are looking for a doer who will look at economic opportunities and turn it around to prosperity,” he said.
According to him, all those who are insulting him because of his health status are no match to him in i mental capacity.
“I know the road to prosperity, safety, clean environment, development of our nation and infrastructure because I have done it all in Lagos state and I can do it again.
“The others do not know the road, don’t follow them. The only person you should follow is the person who knows the road. Follow me, I know the road and I will not mislead you. They do not have my brains but I do have enough brains,” he said.
