Police in Lagos State on Sunday arrested five suspects in connection with the killing of a 38-year-old sound engineer by commercial motorcyclists popularly known as Okada.
Reports said the father of two was killed in the Lekki area of Lagos over a disagreement with a cyclist over a balance of N100.
Police sources said the situation degenerated after more cyclists, joined in the fray and assisted their colleague to attack the victim simply identified as David.
Witnesses said David was lynched and burnt to death by the cyclist and his colleagues following a disagreement.
The reports further said David and his friends became unconscious after being beaten by the motorcyclists before the victim was burnt to death.
David’s friends, a saxophonist, and a keyboard player are currently receiving treatments in a hospital in Lagos, reports said.
The incident came three days after Deborah Samuel, a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State, was stoned to death and her corpse set ablaze by her schoolmates, who accused her of blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad.
