An Intending Army couple has become part of the latest victims of killings unidentified gunmen going on in Nigeria’ southeastern region.
The couple, Master Warrant Officer, A. M Linus and his betrothed wife, were cut down on their way into the region last Saturday. They were targeted because they were members of the military reports said.
Their killing was followed by the murder on Monday of four people, among them a police officer, in Anambra State. Two of those killed in Anambra met their end at Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area while the two were killed close to a church, along Udorji Road, Ozubulu, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
About four days ago, gunmen invaded a bear parlour and killed five persons, including the female owner of the place, in Osumennyi, as well and a policewoman in Ukpor, both in Nnewi South Local Government Area of the State.
Despite continued denials, these spates killings have been blamed on the Indigenous People of Biafra and its military wing, the Eastern Security Network, but there are reports of other groups splinter groups that have added to the criminal activities in the region.
