President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday said that Nigeria needs divine intervention to confront the challenge of insecurity confronting the country.

Buhari declared this during a National Special Prayer Session organized by the Kano State Government for peace and stability in the country.

The World Leader of the Tijjaniyya Movement from Algeria, Sidi Sharif Ali Ibn Arabi, grandson to the founder of the Tijjaniyya Muslim sect, Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani, led the special prayer session.

Nigeria is currently experiencing its worst peace-time insecurity as armed gangs roam the highways, cities, the country and farmlands, kidnapping people for ransom and killing others.

The president, who was represented by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mustapha Baba Shehuri , noted that divine help would assist Nigeria in the efforts being made by the security agencies to tackle insecurity.

“We are doing everything possible to support the security agencies but we also need divine intervention,” the president said.

The president praised the efforts of the Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his efforts in securing peace in Nigeria through spiritual intervention.

“I am very happy with this initiative. Indeed Ganduje is doing well in securing Kano and is giving his quota to achieving peace in the country at large,” Buhari said.
