Rev. Dauda Bature, the ECWA Church Nariya, Kaduna State, who was kidnapped in his farm last month, has been murdered by his abductors.

He was kidnapped on the 8th of November, 2021 while he working on his farm, close to the Rigasa Train station in  Kaduna state.

The killing of the cleric comes as the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State has ordered the rescue of a district head, the Mogaji Erubu in Ilorin Emirate in Kwara state, Dr. Zubair Folorunsho Erubu, who was kidnapped by another group of bandits in the state.

The district head, a medical doctor and former head of service in the State’s civil service, was kidnapped on Thursday and taken to an unknown destination

Like the late Rev Bature, Dr Erubu was said to be going to his farm in Asa local government when he was kidnapped.

Rev Bature’s kidnappers were said to have demanded ransom, which his wife delivered to them. They kidnapped his wife also but released her on November 18. A few days later, they killed her husband, according to Rev. Joseph John Hayab, Vice President, Northern states and Abuja of the Christian Association of Nigeria, who is also the Chairman of CAN in Kaduna state.

Nigeria is currently witnessing its worst peace-time security crisis as armed gangs roam the highways, cities, farmlands, and neighbourhoods, kidnapping citizens and taking them into forests to begin ransom negotiations with the victims’ relations.

Some who are unable to pay the amounts demanded are killed, while in some cases, those who pay the ransom are also killed.
