The Nigerian has set April 2022 for the proposed Nigeria Air to begin operations.
This was announced on Wednesday at the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
President Muhammadu Buhari presided over the meeting.
Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation, told journalists that 49 percent share of the airline would be held by strategic equity partners; 46 percent would be held by Nigerians, while the remaining five percent will be held by the Federal government.
Sirika claimed that when operational, Air Nigeria would create more than 70,000 jobs. This number, he said, is more than the current size of the country’s civil service.
