At least five persons have been confirmed dead in a gas explosion that rocked the Ladipo, Mushin area of Lagos on Tuesday morning.
Those that died were four adults and a child, an official of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), said. The dead comprised three, males and one female, and a child, who was rescued alive but died on the way to the hospital, according to Ibrahim Farinloye, Coordinator of NEMA.
Farinloye said the fire had been put out.
The explosion was said to have happened at the LPG domestic retailing centre on Ojekunke Street, Ladipo Spare part market area.
This is happening barely two weeks after a 21-story building under construction collapsed in the Ikoyi area of Lagos. So far, at least 44 people have been confirmed dead in the rubble.
Those that died in the building collapse included the developer of the property.
