Senator Andy Uba, who came third in the Anambra State governorship election, has said he is heading to the court to challenge the poll result.
The Candidate of All Progressive Congress APC made the declaration on Saturday in an address to the party members in Awka, the state capital as he indicated his next steps.
Prof Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance won the election with 112,229 votes. His nearest rival, Valentine Ozigbo of the People’s Democratic Party, received 53,807 votes, while Andy Uba had 43,285 votes. Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressive Party had 21,261 votes.
Uba on Saturday wondered how he could have lost in Soludo’s ward, where the ward chairman of Soludo’s party defected to APC just a week to the election.
“I am confident that APC will reclaim the mandate at the court,” he said
Uba asked his party supporters not to be discouraged, assuring them that their party will win in court.
According to him, once he starts a fight, he does not look back.
“I am not hungry, and nobody here on the high table is hungry and by the grace of God we will recover this mandate,” he said.
