The Supreme Court on Thursday declared Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo as the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance in the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 6.
The Supreme Court also returned Chief Victor Oye as the National Chairman of APGA.
The Court made the declaration in a judgment of a five-man panel of justices, which dismissed the appeal filed by Jude Okeke on the ground of being an abuse of the court process.
Justice Mary Peter Odili, who delivered the lead judgment, awarded the sum of N1 million to be paid by Jude Okeke to APGA and Mr. Oye.
Justice Odiii also upheld the judgment of the Court of Appeal (Kano Division), which had earlier dismissed Okeke’s suit.
Besides the legal battles that have trailed the upcoming governorship election in the state, Anambra has also seen a high level of insecurity occasioned by attacks by armed gangs generally known as Unknown gunmen.
