The Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Thursday slumped while giving a brief address and was rushed out of the Banquet Hall at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Bawa was giving his goodwill message at the National Identity Day celebration, stressing the importance of National Identity, when he suddenly stopped speaking, with a request to be excused.
He was giving the example of a man the commission arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, with 116 SIM cards when the incident happened.
“Please, excuse me, I can’t continue,” he was quote to have said and then started to walk off the stage before he slumped on his chair. He was subsequently rushed out of the venue.
Prof Isa Pantami, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, and other dignitaries stopped the event and rushed to assist Bawa.
Later, the MC at the event announced that “the EFCC Chairman has stabilised and he is doing ok”.
