The main opposition party, the Peoples’ Democratic Party, experienced a major upheaval Tuesday following the resignation of seven members of its National Working Committee.

The party’s National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (retd), confirmed the resignations.

Akobundu however, said those who resigned were deputies not the substantial heads of the departments, but declined to give details.

However, sources say that those who resigned include: The Deputy National Financial Secretary, Deputy Legal Adviser, Deputy National Auditor, Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Deputy Women Leader, and Deputy Organizing Secretary.

The resignations came as PDP’s National Reconciliation Committee chairman and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, met in Ibadan with Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, and other members of the committee, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, and Liyel Imoke, former governor of Cross River State.

The Committee members were in the Oyo State capital to meet with members of factions in the party to resolve PDP’s lingering crises.
