The Department of State Services on Monday produced in court only eight out of twelve persons its operatives arrested from the residence of Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, the Yoruba Nation agitator.

DSS produced the eight persons in compliance with an order of the court, after it failed to produce them. Those it brought to the court were Amoda Babatunde (aka Lady K), Tajudeen Erinoyen, Diakola Ademola Jubril, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Noah Oyetunji, Ayobami Donald,  Raji Kazeem and Bamidele Sunday.

The Spy Police explained that Abdullateef Ademola Onaolapo, Uthman Opeyemi Adelabu, Oluwafemi Ola Kunle, and Okoyemi Tajudeen could not be produced in court because there were discrepancies in their names.

The Federal High Court in Abuja deferred the hearing of the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by the 12 persons who were arrested when the DSS operatives stormed Igboho’s residence in the Soka area of Ibadan about a month ago.

DSS subsequently declared Igboho wanted following the night raid on his residence, accusing him of gunrunning.

Igboho later went underground before sneaking into Nigeria’s neighbour, Benin Republic, where he was arrested two weeks ago and has remained in detention since then.

Deciding on the case on Monday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu adjourned the hearing on the application to Wednesday, August 4, to enable counsel to the detained applicants, Pelumi Olajengbesi, amend the court processes to reflect their real names.

Some of the names earlier listed in the court processes were mere nicknames of the applicants, Olajengbesi explained.

Justice Egwuatu ordered the DSS to produce all the detained persons on the next adjourned date.
