Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, the Yoruba Nation activist, has arrived at Cour De’appal De Cotonou, Benin Republic, as the battle over his extradition to Nigeria begins.

This comes about three days after Igboho and wife, Ropo, were arrested by the International Criminal Police Organisation at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou.

The couple was arrested as they tried to board a flight to Germany, the home         country of Ropo.

His supporters and members of the Yoruba Nation agitators have raised a team of lawyers to defend him and prevent his extradition to Nigeria.

The Nigerian government has been pushing for his extradition back home to face charges boarding on gunrunning.

The push for Igboho’s extradition to Nigeria has been led by the country’s Ambassador to the Republic Benin, Lt.Gen. Tukur Brutai, according to reports.

Nigeria’s Department of State Service, the spy police, declared him wanted early this month following a night raid on his house in Oyo State. The DSS later alleged it seized a cache of arms and ammunition in at his home.
