Daring gunmen in the early hours of Monday (today) invaded a school in Kaduna State and abducted an unspecified number of students.
The bandits took away students of Bethel Baptist Secondary School in Kaduna, located in Maraban Rido, Chikun Local Government Area of the State, on the outskirts of the state capital.
The bandits were said to have attacked the school at about 2 am local time as they shot sporadically into the air while taking away the students from the boarding school.
One source said as many as 130 students were taken away, but the Police could not confirm the number.
Citing one of 17 students said to have been rescued by soldiers, a source said that two soldiers were shot by the bandits and it was unclear if they were killed.
Kaduna has become a hotbed of kidnapping, which is one of the security challenges facing Nigeria currently. The Monday attack is the latest in a string of such invasions of schools located in the northern state, with the kidnappers demanding millions of naira as ransom
