Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, on Wednesday, sacked 20 out of his 28 commissioners, as he dissolved his cabinet.
The actions came at the end of the weekly Executive Council meeting, with the governor saying the dissolution of the cabinet had become necessary for is to reorganize his cabinet of optimum effectiveness.
Uzodinma has been in the eye of the storm, with attacks by the Eastern Security Network, the militant arm of the Indigenous People of Biafra, taking a toll on Imo.
Only the commissioners for Finance, Science and Technology, Health, Works, Information, Youths and Sports, Women Affairs and Tourism were retained.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Mbadiwe Emelumba along with the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Nnamdi Anyaehie, and Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to Governor, Oguwike Nwachuku, told journalists that the Uzodinma’s reason for the actin was to fast-track his aim of serving the people well
The governor thanked sacked commissioners, and assured them that they would still be relevant in other areas, should not be reabsorbed in the new cabinet.
