The South-East region on Sunday announced the has launched its own joint security outfit codenamed EBUBEAGU.
Imo State Government disclosed this on its official Twitter handle
“South-East Governors set up the South-East joint security outfit code named EBUBEAGU,” the tweet read.
The announcement came after governors and stakeholders of the region held a security meeting in Owerri, the Imo State on the same.
In attendance at the meeting were the governors of Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo and Enugu. Also present were Navy and Air Force Commanders, the Inspector-General of Police, and Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
The meeting held five after gunmen attacked the Owerri Custodial Centre, freeing 1,884 inmates. They also attacked the Imo State Police Command headquarters, where they freed about 600 suspends and set several vehicles ablaze.
