Unidentified gunmen have bombed the Ehime Mbano police station and released suspects held at the facility.
This is the second attack on police facilities in the state, following the attack on Imo State Police Command headquarters and the Correctional Service earlier on Tuesday.
The gunmen were also said to have attacked suspected killer herdsmen who were operating along the Umuihi at Ihitte/Uboma local government area.
They were said to have gone into the police station and taken away some ammunitions, freed some suspects held at the police station, who are suspected to be their members.
The Eastern Security Network, the military wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra, dissociated itself from the Owerri attacks, claiming it stands for peace.
Despite that, the outgoing Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, said in Owerri on Tuesday that IPO and ESN were responsible for the attacks.
Adamu issued an order to police operatives to launch attacks to crush the organisations.
