Unidentified gunmen  have kidnapped the Kaduna State Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Apostle Emmanuel Egoh Bako, and his wife, Cindy.

The kidnappers abducted the cleric and his wife at their residence, said to be located at Albarka Camp, Fadan Kagoma, near Kafanchan in Jema’a Local Government Area of the state on Christmas day.

While the state is yet to issue a statement on the abduction, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna State, Rev. John Hayab, confirmed the incident.

Also, the PFN has called for the release of the cleric and his wife

“Apostle Emmanuel Egoh Bako, is the Secretary, Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders Association,” Hayab said as he mourned that the church had had enough of relentless kidnapping of its members and ransoms paid before regaining their freedom.

He called on security agencies to help to ensure the release of the cleric and his wife, from their captors unhurt.

Meanwhile the chairman of the PFN, Cross River State chapter, Dr. Lawrence Ekwok has called for the immediate release Bako and his wife.

Dr Ekwok made the call in a statement he issued on Saturday, describing the kidnap of the Bakos on a day generally recognized worldwide as a day of peace and joy, as not only callous, but wicked and insensitive.

He decried a situation, where preachers of the gospel of Jesus Christ, had become the target of kidnappers, and called for a stop to the menace.

Dr. Ekwok warned that Apostle Bako must be released immediately alongside his wife and others unhurt for the kidnappers not to incur the wrath of God.

He described the security situation in the country “as terrible, such that a minister of God will be kidnapped in his house along with his wife and others on a festive and joyous day in which the world celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior of mankind.”

He called on the government of Kaduna state and the security agencies to ensure the immediate release of the couple.

Nigeria is currently experiencing a worrisome level of insecurity characterized by kidnapping, armed robbery, murder and other forms of banditry.
