Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, and Ghana’s incumbent president, has won the 2020 presidential election.
Akufo-Addo was declared winner of the polls by the Electoral Commission of Ghana, beating his rival and former president, John Mahama, who contested under the National Democratic Congress.
Akufo-Addo received 6,730,413 or 51.295% percent of the total valid votes cast votes, while Mahama got 6,214,889 votes, representing 47.366% percent of the total.
A winner of the election was expected to score at least a simple majority of 51% of the total valid votes cast.
