Joe Biden, former Vice-President and hopeful Democratic presidential candidate for the November 3 presidential election, on Tuesday announced Kamala Harris as his running mate
“I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate,” he said on Twitter.
With that Harris becomes the first black woman to vie for America’s number two seat.
The nomination sets the duo for the Democratic National Convention scheduled to hold on August 17-20.
A senator from California, Harris previously took a shot at the White House, but stopped and joined Bidden.
Reacting to Harris’ nomination, Hilary Clinton in a tweet described her as “an incredible public servant and leader,” saying should be “a strong partner” for Biden.
“I’m thrilled to welcome @KamalaHarris to a historic Democratic ticket. She’s already proven herself to be an incredible public servant and leader. And I know she’ll be a strong partner to @JoeBiden. Please join me in having her back and getting her elected,” tweeted Hillary, who ran for the presidency four years ago.
