Geoffrey Onyeama, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Announcing the result of his fourth test for the virus on Sunday via his Twitter handle, Onyema said he would go into self-isolation
“Did my fourth Covid-19 test yesterday at the first sign of throat irritation and unfortunately this time it came back positive,” the minister tweeted.
“Unfortunately this time it came back positive. That is life! Win some lose some. Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best,” he said.
This increases the list of high-profile government officials that have contracted the virus in Nigeria.
Abba Kyari, former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, died of the virus during the lockdown over the pandemic.
