Former acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, who was rescued from a kidnap attempt on her Thursday, is currently testifying before the House of Representatives committee on the commission.
Nunieh was billed to testify at the committee on Thursday but was prevented from traveling to Abuja by a team of policemen who surrounded her Port Harcourt residence in what she termed a kidnap attempt aimed at stopping her from testifying.
She was rescued by Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, who ferried her to safety at the government house.
The committee is probing the allegations of corruption and wrongdoing being made against officials of the commission and other personalities.
Nunieh’s travails worsened after she alleged that Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, tried to molest her sexually and also controls spending by the commission which is under the supervision of his ministry.
