Adams Oshiomhole, who was removed last month as the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, has been named a member of the party’s governorship election campaign council for Edo State.
The 49-member council is headed by Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who was named by the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the APC, according to a statement issued Thursday by Yekini Nabena, the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State will serve as Deputy Chairman, while Abbas Braimoh is the Secretary of the council, according to the statement.
This followed the approval for the constitution of a National Campaign Council for the 19th September, 2020 Governorship Election, by the National Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni, Nabena said.
The campaign council will be inaugurated on Monday, 6th July 2020 at the Party’s National Secretariat.
APC is deploying its resources to ensure victory for Osagie Ize-Iyamu, its candidate for the September 19 election. Ize-Iyamu emerged APC’s candidate following the disqualification of Godwill Obaseki, the state’s governor and Edo governor.
Obaseki’s disqualification as APC’s candidate was the culmination of a rancorous relationship between him and Oshiomhole, his predecessor as the state governor.
Ize-Iyamu will be confronting Obaseki at the polls, where the latter will be contesting on the platform of opposition People’s Democratic Party.
