Three officers of National Drug and Law Enforcement Agent (NDLEA) were on Friday evening shot to death by unknown gunmen in Okene Local government area of Kogi State.

The killers reportedly took the firearms belonging to the deceased after the attack which occurred around 8:30 pm.

The slain officers, identified as Onwumere Nicholas, Peter Ebun and Abdulrahman Musa were said to be in a team of six officers of the agency who were on duty at one of their post around the main gate of the Federal College of Education, Okene.

According to eyewitness, Joel Abraham, three other officers who were within the slain three escaped unhurt while the hoodlums ran away with two Lar rifle guns belong to the officers that were killed.

The Kogi state Commandant of NDLEA, Alhaji Idris Bello confirmed the incident, saying three of his men fell to the guns of hoodlums in Okene, while on patrol on Friday evening.

Bello added that NDLEA together with other sister agents in the state have put all necessary plans in motion to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.
