The Senate has commenced investigations into the insubordination and abuse of office case brought against the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Maikanti Baru by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu.
The lawmakers resolved Wednesday to investigate Kachikwu’s call for the cancellation of the recent appointments in the NNPC. They also resolved to carry out a holistic investigation into the finances and activities of the NNPC.
The decision further look into the accusation raised by Kachikwu against Baru follows additional prayer by Senator Kabir Marafa, representing Zamfara Central during a discussion on the “Allegation of Corruption against against NNPC Trading: Time to conduct a holistic investigation” motion moved by Senator Samuel Anyanwu, representing Imo East.
