Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose has chided the All

Progressives Congress (APC) for constituting a committee for the restructuring of Nigeria, saying the party was acting as if it is greater than Nigeria and its people.

Governor Fayose, who spoke on Friday, through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said; “Setting up committee on restructuring of Nigeria as if the country is now a personal property of the APC is the peak of the party’s display of ego and contempt for Nigerians.”

The governor said the APC was only playing to the gallery with the constitution of the committee; adding that; “It is hypocritical and funny that the same APC, which shunned the 2014 National Conference and made sure that its government did not implement the conference report is now setting up committee on restructuring of the country.

“It is even more laughable that the APC which made restructuring part of its manifesto needed to wait for Nigerians to agitate for restructuring before setting up committee on it.”

Governor Fayose agreed that the current structure of the country is unbalanced, unjust and over-centralized, saying the 2014 National Conference report should rather be adopted and implemented by the

APC-led federal government instead of the APC embarking on a wild goose chase.

He said some of the recommendations made by the 2014 National Conference will help to move the country forward if implemented, noting that partial resource control, state police, state

constitution, freedom of every state to explore and exploit its natural resources and develop at its own pace as recommended by the 2014 National Conference were notable among reasons for agitations for restructuring.

While describing the APC as a party of promise and fail people that Nigerians must never vote again, Governor Fayose said; “One is not surprised that everything the APC promised Nigerians has been denied.

They promised restructuring, but were quick to throw the report of the 2014 conference to the dustbin. Even their Change slogan, they have abandoned.”
