The Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa has reminded residents of the eight Local Government Area where motorcycle riding is banned that the ban is still on.
The governor gave the reminder on Friday in a press release signed by Paul Osahor, the director of information in the state.
Osahor said: “It is hereby announced for the information of the general public particularly Deltans and operators of motorcycle business in Delta State, that the State Government’s ban on the use of motorcycle as the means of transportation in eight Local Government Areas in the State is still in force.
“For the avoidance of doubt the State Government ban on the use of motorcycles as a means of transportation in the following Local Government Areas, Oshimili South, Warri South, Uvwie, Ethiope East, Udu, Ika South, Ika North East and Sapele is still in force.”
He emphasised that the ban on the use of motorcycle’s as a means of transportation in these Local Government Areas is to stem the tide in criminal activities.
He urged members of the public especially residents in the affected Local Government Areas to avoid the use of motorcycle as a means of transportation.
“Law enforcement agencies in the State are advised to ensure the ban on the use of motorcycle (Okada) as a means of transportation in the above mentioned Local Government Area in the State is enforced,” he said.
