The confusion that has engulfed the Buhari led Federal government continued on Thursday with the withdrawal of the list of career Ambassador and their designated portfolios that was released on Wednesday.
Huhuonline.com gathered that the list, which was released by the Presidency without consent of the ministry, was withdrawn because of protests from non-career ambassador designates or politicians, as certain portfolios which were traditionally reserved for them was filled career ambassadors.
A diplomatic source informed that countries such as US, London, Ireland, Germany, Canada are reserved for non-career ambassadors.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said that it has yet to assign portfolios to the 47 officers recently approved as Ambassadors.
A statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Sola Enikanolaiye, in Abuja on Thursday, said none of the Ambassadors had been designated to any country.
The Ministry also disowned the list, describing it as totally unauthorised as it did not emanate from the Government.
“The deployment of Ambassadors-designate will be released only when agreements (consent) have been sought and obtained from prospective countries.
“Members of the diplomatic community and the general public are therefore advised to disregard any news on the purported deployment of the 47 career Ambassadors-designate, who are currently undergoing their induction programme,’’ he said.
