Former Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki has died.
The former Sultan, who died Monday night from a protracted illness in an Abuja Hospital, was 93. He would be buried on Tuesday by 2:00p.m, according to Muslim rites.
Ibrahim Dasuki was the 18th Sultan of Sokoto.He was deposed in 1996 by Gen. Sani Abacha led Military administration.
Before he became Sultan, he held the traditional title of Baraden Sokoto.
Dasuki was the first Sultan from the Buhari line of the house of Dan Fodio and he was a close associate of Ahmadu Bello, a friend of Abubakar Gumi and was influential in the founding of Jama’atu Nasril Islam.
He is survived by many children, including Col. Sambo Dasuki (Rtd), former National Security Adviser.
