Ayodele Fayose, the Ekiti State Governor has been exposed by Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro who is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro said that he personally gave him $5.37million while his associate, Abiodun Agbele received another N1.3billion naira on his behalf for his election in 2014.

The funds received by Fayose from Obanikoro are believed to be from the N4.745billion received by a company allegedly owned by Obanikoro from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, under the former NSA, Sambo Dasuki.

The claimed cash was reportedly wired into a company, Sylva Mcnamara’s bank account within seven months in 2014. This revelation was made possible by Sen. Obanikoro who is in EFCC custody.

The former minister was confronted with evidence of movement of funds from the Office of the National Security. The source within the commission said the ex-minister allegedly used companies belonging to his children, Babajide and Gbolahan as front.

Obanikoro insisted he is not the owner of Sylva Mcnamara, the company which was used to transfer N4.7 billion in 2014.

According to EFCC sources, Obanikoro told his interrogators that he handed Fayose $5,377,000 in cash and N1.3billion was received by the governor’s associate, Mr. Abiodun Agbele.

Proof of how the money was shared into accounts of six Bureaux de Change, in Abuja was also presented to Obanikoro.

Obanikoro told investigators that two flights were used in moving the money from Lagos to Ekiti.

According to the EFCC source, Obanikoro also informed his interrogators that part of the money was meant for the purpose of warding off a plot by the Boko Haram to attack Lagos and other parts of the Southwest.

The former minister was also quoted as saying the total sum of N2.2billion was transferred to Sylva Mcnamara for onward transfer to Mr. Ayodele Fayose on the instruction of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

“The sum of N1.3billion cash was brought in a bullion van by Diamond Bank on the instruction of the NSA.

“In addition, the sum of N60million was converted to dollars at the rate of N168 per dollar and altogether the sum of $5,377,000 was handed over in cash by me to Mr. Fayose while the N1.3billion was received by Mr. Fayose’s associate, Mr. Abiodun Agbele, in the presence of my Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Lt. Adewale, who also accompanied them to the bank along with the bank officials.

“I didn’t interact with the bank officials. I called Fayose before the funds were handed over to Mr. Abiodun Agbele. I spoke to Fayose with my phone at Akure airport” Obanikoro said.
