President Buhari, Tuesday, nominated Justice Sidi Bage from Nasarawa State and Justice Paul Adamu Galinje from Taraba State to fill two vacant seats at the Supreme Court.

The Senate received a letter requesting confirmation of their appointments on the 7th October.

 Excerpt of the letter dated 6th October, addressed to the Senate President, signed by President Buhari and obtained by huhuonline.com,reads:

 “In conformity with section 231, sub section (2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, which gives the President powers to appoint a Justice of the Supreme Court acting on the recommendation of the National Judcial Council and subject to confirmation of the appointment by the Senate.

“I have the honour to forward the above  mentioned names for confirmation as Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.”

 Justice Bage was born on 22nd June 1956, he became a Federal High Court Judge in 1992 and was appointed as Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2000. While Justice Galinje, was born on 26th June 1954. He became a Judge of the High Court in 1998 and was appointed Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2008.
