2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
The above verse establishes a very basic principle, that you become what you behold. You become like what you constantly look at or give your attention to. Your focus – what you give your attention to is very critical to your succeeding in life. Thus, constantly focusing your attention on discouragement, depression and failure will actually produce discouragement, depression and failure.
But focusing on Christ in you will produce a lifestyle like that of Christ.
You see, the Word of God is the mirror of God that reveal His character, nature, and personality, as well as His image and description of you.
For instance, the Word says, “You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, though was he rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might be rich. (2 Corinthian 8:9)
Amplified Rendering says, “For you are becoming progressively acquainted with and recognizing more strongly and clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (His kindness, His gracious generosity, His undeserved favor and spiritual blessing), [in] that though He was [so very] rich, yet for your sakes He became [so very] poor, in order that by His poverty you might become enriched (abundantly supplied).”
Living Bible Rendering says,… “You know how full of love and kindness our Lord Jesus was: though he was so very rich, yet to help you he became so very poor, so that by being poor he could make you rich.”
What God is showing to you here is more than an instruction; He’s showing you the glory in the Word and the sort of person He’s made you.
You are the one who is rich. “Rich” is who you are. Which simply means you are enriched or abundantly supplied.
As you keep looking into the mirror of God, you become what you see.
Do you have problem living right or are you sick in your body?
1 Peter 2:24 says, “who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
Notice the opening sentence… “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, BEING DEAD TO SINS, should live unto righteousness.
This is who he has made you; you are man or woman with no connection with sins, you are dead to it. As far you are concerned, sin has gone out of style. The want to sin or sin nature is done away with at the new birth.
Now, your born again spirit is created in righteousness and true holiness. You have been made righteous and holy forever. Remember Paul question to the church in Rome. …”God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”(Romans 6:2)
This is the mirror of you, because you are dead to sin, you can’t live in it. As you keep looking at this mirror, you become what you see.
Notice the concluding phrase in this construction, says,…“By whose stripes ye were healed.”…A past event, your healing was taken care of long time ago. Now you are the healed and not the sick.
The word stripes come from the Greek word “Molops” which infers “the mark of a blow” or “wound trickling with blood” which simply means that every mark of blow Jesus received brought you healing. Every wound on his body that trickled blood paid for your healing.
Thus, regardless of what Satan is trying to do in your body at the moment, once you line up your thinking with the God’s word, which says by his stripes you were healed, your entire being has no choice but to respond because where the mind goes the man follows.
