Huhuonline.com can disclose that Ibrahim Magu, Chairman of EFCC is overreaching himself by attempting to stifle press freedom in Nigeria.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Monday, arrested Abubakar Sidiq Usman, a blogger/citizen journalist over alleged cyber crimes.
The arrest was contained in a statement issued by EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren.
According to the statement, Usman was arrested for offences bordering on cyber stalking.
Uwujaren said that Abubakar Sidiq Usman, who is the publisher of Abusidiqu.com, was picked up at his Kubwa, Abuja home in the early hours of Monday August 8, 2016 by operatives of the EFCC.
He said Usman is currently being questioned over the alleged offence, which contravenes sections of the Cyber Crime Act.
Uwujaren stated further,” the suspect has already been offered administrative bail and would be released to his elected sureties.”
