The Niger Delta Avengers, last night blew up another oil facility around Ogidigben, Warri South West Local in Delta State. The facility belongs to Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).
It was learnt that the incident occurred after 8p.m.
“The incident occurred along the Chanomi Creek around Ogidigben area. We got reports from our field office that a loud explosion was heard at the location, which was followed by a huge ball of fire,” a source said.
Also, a community leader, who also confirmed the incident, said: “I was called and told that there was an explosion, they blew up the manifold at Ogidigben and they are going there now to see what actually happened.”
Militants had recently attacked Chevron, Shell and ENI facilities in Delta and Bayelsa states.
The Niger Delta Avengers, a militant group responsible for several attacks on oil and gas installations in the oil-rich region on Wednesday rejected an offer of peace talks by the Federal Government.
