Although President Muhammadu Buhari told the Senate that the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo will act on his behalf as President for the 11 days that he would be on medical vacation, he did not tell the assembly his destination.

In a letter addressed to the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, Buhari on Tuesday said he was writing in line with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 constitution as amended. According to the letter which was read at plenary by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu the president said he will be away from 6th- 16th of June, 2016.

“In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 constitution as amended, I wish to inform the Distinguished Senate that I will be away on a short medical vacation from 6th-16th of June, 2016, and while I am away, the Vice President will perform the functions of my office,” Buhari stated in the letter.

“Please, accept, as always assurances of my highest esteemed consideration.”

However, the letter did not state where Buhari was traveling to for the short medical vacation.

President Buhari, had last week, visited the Aso Villa clinic, where he ‎was treated for an undisclosed ear infection. The presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, had claimed that the president was fit, thereby casting doubts on the piece of information.
