Pilots of Dana Air have gone on strike, grounding the airline’s operations and leaving hundreds of passengers stranded nationwide.
“The strike started this morning and passengers that were supposed to travel this morning are stranded,” a source at the airport told our correspondent.
The source added that the pilots were protesting the non-payment of their salaries.
Huhuonline.com gathered that, the airline has been selling tickets to passengers earlier today hoping that the dispute would be resolved. Later they started making refunds with some passengers booking flights with other airlines.
The Spokesperson for Dana Air, Mr. Kingsley Ezenwa, however, said the airline has paid all salary arrears.
The dispute, according to him, is as a result of a delay in the payment of an allowance, which the airline promised the pilots on its own volition.
