Scores of people are reported to have been killed while about 11 houses and a Roman Catholic Church were destroyed by rampaging Fulani herdsmen who invaded Odozi-Obodo community at Onu-Eke, Nimbo in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State early Monday.
The houses and the church were razed while the casualty figure from the attack carried out by over 500 Fulani herdsmen is yet to be ascertained.
The communities had hours before the attack raised an alarm that the Fulani herdsmen were gathering to launch an attack.
They also claimed the herdsmen brought some of the colleagues from Adamawa to help them execute the attack.
They alleged that the herdsmen were alleging that some of their cattle had gone missing.
Confirming the incident, the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, said police officers and soldiers had been drafted to the community.
