The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal of Senate President; Dr Bukola Saraki against the Code of Conduct Bureau, saying the case lacks merit.
The Supreme Court up held the Appeal court’s judgment, holding that the Code of Conduct Tribunal is validly constituted.
The decision had been adjourned till February 5, 2016 to determine the appeal put forward by Saraki seeking to quash charges against him after hearing arguments from both the Federal Government and the Senate President in December 2015.
The Federal Government leveled 13 criminal charges against the Senate President before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over alleged false declaration of assets.
The charge document is claiming that Saraki deliberately manipulated the assets declaration form that he filled prior to his assumption of office as the Senate President. The document had revealed that Saraki did this by making anticipatory declaration of assets, while also operating foreign bank account when he was holding public.
