The controversies surrounding the 2015 governorship election in Rivers State that produced Nyesom Wike as governor may have been laid to rest following the judgement of the Supreme Court on Wednesday confirming him winner of the election.
Wike had lost at the Election Petition Tribunal and at the Appeal Court making him appeal at the Supreme Court.
Wike had alleged in a 20 counts of appeal that the tribunal did not carry out its ruling based on fact but on hearsay.
He also argued that the use of the card reader or otherwise could not be a ground for ruling.
At the time of this report, there had been no statement from Dakuku Peterside of the All Progressives Congress (APC) or his party concerning the outcome of the election.
It could be recalled that Peterside and his party had argued that the election was marred with irregularities and violence.
