Scores of residents were on Thursday roasted in a gas explosion that occurred in an industrial gas plant in Nnewi, Anambra State.The casualty figure has not been ascertained at the time of this report. Some believe the figure could scale up to 100.
The gas plant is owned by Chikason Group and is called Inter Corp Oil limited (LPG Gas Plant).The incident was said to have started an noon while a truck was discharging its contents.
The ensuing fire roasted customers who had gone to the plant to refill their gases. Many others were injured in the tragedy.The fire spread to neighbouring areas around the plant killing residents and passers-by. The victims as well as the corpses were transferred to the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.
