The Nigerian Army said on Wednesday that its troops of 111 Special Forces Battalion, 7 Division Garrison, has raided a rocket factory of the Boko Haram sect in Borno State, North-eastern Nigeria.

The Army said the success was recorded during a special raid operation carried out on Tuesday at the Delwa general area.

While on the operation, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations, said the troops discovered and knocked out Boko Haram terrorists’ rocket factory at Jamrari.

“This unprecedented development has put paid to the much touted ability of the terrorists to fabricate rockets and their launchers using rudimentary materials.

“This has further crippled the terrorists and greatly embolden the troops in carrying out more offensive actions against the terrorists till they are defeated.”

Usman said the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, who is on constant communication with the troops, commended them for the success and other similar feats.

Buratai was said to have also encouraged them to do more especially as the terrorists are on the verge of being defeated.

The raid occurred hours before the sect struck at Yola, the Adamawa State capital on Tuesday evening killing scores of residents and injuring many others.

The casualty figure from the attack was still rising as at Wednesday.
