Mr. Nebolisa Emordi, one of the Permanent Secretaries sacked on Tuesday by President Muhammadu Buhari, has returned the two cars in his possession along with his identity card.
The handing over ceremony was brief and Emordi, while thanking Buhari for the honour and rare privilege of working as the Permanent Secretary of the state house since 29th May when the President assumed office, added that the President had started well as he was already redeeming the image of the country.
He promised to continue to “fervently pray for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts to correct the various ills that are facing the nation.”
He further said he was returning the cars officially given to him because he wanted to be in tune with the posture of the President on accountability and transparency.
While praising Buhari for the elderly manner he conveyed the termination of their appointments, he said: “you could have just heard it but he invited us to a meeting and explained why government had to take some tough decisions and why we were affected.
He noted that life was a journey in which nobody knows how he would end and that this is how it is with both the civil service as well as private institutions.
Nation building, according to Emordi, is like a musical chair on which any person that finds himself in such an assignment strives to give his best at all times as required of the scheme and the constitution.
He apologised for any of his action that might have caused some anger and grievance adding: “I have enjoyed working in the State House with all the issues, handling human beings, some pleasant experiences and some not very pleasant experiences.
“But that is life and we took it in our stride and tried to do our best.”
He pleaded with the staff to cooperate with the new Permanent Secretary.
