President Muhammadu Buhari has described the type of people he wants as his ministers. He said such persons must possess qualities such as decency, patriotism and outstanding experience.
He gave the description on Monday while assuring that his list of ministers will include a mix of technocrats and politicians.
Buhari gave the description on “Good Morning Nigeria,” a television programme monitored by huhuonline.com.
Buhari maintained that from what he has seen so far, the country needs really patriotic Nigerians in the ministerial positions.
” We want those that can work very hard, knowledgeable, experienced and committed Nigerians, to be in charge of ministries,” he said.
“A lot of the institutions of Nigeria, the important institutions, were compromised. Everybody was for himself and God for all of us, it’s most unfortunate.
“We have the people, educated people, experienced people but everybody seemed to be working for himself, thinking of how much he could get as much and as quick as possible.”
Buhari added that his government will try as much as possible to avoid appointing hostages.
“By this, I mean people who have been in the system but compromised their personal and professional integrity,” he described.
He said the reason he is delaying in choosing so far is because a number of knowledgeable people have been compromised.
