The World Bank Group has pledged its support to dash out the sum of $2.1 billion to help Nigeria rebuild the damaged properties in the northeast, of the country.

Representatives of the group, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, along with the World Health Organisation (WHO) while meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, said the move became important with a view to rendering assistance to people of the affected region.

Buhari, while thanking the group said his administration would not leave any stone unturned in the fight against the sect.

According to him, apart from rebuilding the region in terms of infrastructure, priority must also be given to the resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs), who now number over one million.

Apart from the World Bank, WHO is also to investing 300 million dollars on immunisation against malaria in Nigeria, while the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation will collaborate with Dangote Foundation to ensure that the country maintains its zero polio case record of the past one year.

If the effort is sustained for another two years, Nigeria will be declared fully free of polio.
